Confident Kent leads way in Moto3™ FP1

Confident Kent leads way in Moto3™ FP1

Danny Kent allayed any nerves about his chances of lifting the championship at Sepang by topping FP1 ahead of Navarro and Vazquez.

Leopard Racing’s Kent showed no nerves as he topped the first session at a cloudy (Track temp. 33˚C) Sepang International Circuit with a 2’13.715. The Brit, who has crashed out two of the last three races, has another chance to lift the title in Malaysia as he leads the standings by 40 points. He finished almost half a second ahead of Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Jorge Navarro (+0.450s) in second, with his teammate Efren Vazquez in third (+0.640s).

RBA Racing Team’s Isaac Viñales (+0.703s) was in fourth, with Jakub Kornfeil (+0.704s) on the Drive M7 SIC KTM just a further thousandth of a second further back.

The only man who can stop Kent lifting the title, Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Miguel Oliveira (+0.762s), was sixth with his teammate Brad Binder seventh.

Niccolo Antonelli (Ongetta-Rivacold), Romano Fenati (Sky Racing Team VR46) and Zulfahmi Khairuddin (Drive M7 SIC) completed the top ten.

Scotsman John McPhee (SAXOPRINT RTG) ended the session in 20th, while Estrella Galicia 0,0 Fabio Quartararo is missing the GP through injury.
