Bradl: “I had already shown my potential”

Bradl: “I had already shown my potential”

A great top ten finish for Stefan Bradl in the Malaysian GP shows his continued growth on the Aprilia.

The Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix produced Stefan Bradl’s best result of the year. Still in its early development stages the Aprilia RS-GP was able hold its own around the highly demanding Sepang International Circuit as Stefan Bradl guided it to tenth. Bradl’s tenth, alongside Aprilia Racing Team Gresini teammate Alvaro Bautista’s 14th, produced the best weekend of the year for Aprilia as both their riders scored solid points.

Since joining the Aprilia project midseason Bradl has shown frequent flashes of speed during practice, but has never been able to produce a solid race result. Fortunately in Malaysia it all changed as Bradl carried his pace from practice through to the race. With this boost Bradl and the Gresini team head to the Valencia GP with high hopes of another double point scoring finish.

Stefan Bradl: “First of all I’d like to thank the team, Romano Albesiano and Fausto Gresini for believing in me and giving me this chance, especially after the disappointing first half of my season. I had already shown my potential various times in practice, but it took just a bit more time to come up with a concrete race result. Throughout the weekend everything went very well. We were able to find a good setup from the start and the entire team worked very well, as always. It’s nice to have been able to give them a good result in return, which they definitely deserve. It was a very long race for me. At the beginning I could have been very fast, but not enough to follow the riders ahead of me, so once I found myself on my own it was hard to stay focused and manage the gap over my rivals. I’m very happy. Finally a good race result!”
