Marquez: “There is not much between us”

Marquez: “There is not much between us”

Try as he might Marc Marquez is unable to snatch pole, but is ready for a close race.

Marc Marquez will start the last race of the 2015 MotoGP™ World Championship from second on the grid. The Repsol Honda rider pushed to the limit but was unable to get within 0.4s of the untouchable Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha) during Q2. Marquez has been towards the top of the time sheets in the majority of sessions during the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana weekend and has had the race pace to match his one lap speed. On Sunday tyre life will be critical, throughout the weekend the Honda riders have experienced several problems with the front overheating and are hoping for cooler race conditions.

All three of the riders on the front row look to have similar race pace and a solid start could help to elevate tyre issues later in the race if Marquez can break away and manage a gap. The Valencia GP looks set to be a sold out affair and Marquez is hoping to take his sixth win of the season in front of his home fans. There may be a title battle going on behind him, but Marquez has his sights set on victory as he looks to put the issues of Sepang behind before looking ahead to 2016 and attempting to take back his crown.

Marc Marquez: “It's all very close on the time sheets with regards to race pace and I think it will be a tough race tomorrow; there is not much between us. We need to see what happens with the tyres and how the bike responds after ten consecutive laps. We are on a par with Dani and Jorge and I will try to get on the podium and hope to fight for victory at this last race of 2015!"
