Lowes: “I’m really impressed by the team and the bike!”

A positive first outing for Sam Lowes on the Kalex with the Gresini squad as the 2016 season begins.

The 2015 Moto2™ World Championship provide that Sam Lowes has the potential to win races and fight for podiums even on the challenging Speed Up frame. For 2016 he becomes part of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 and switches to the highly successful Kalex frame as he seeks to battle for the Moto2™ world title. The combination had their first outing together at the Jerez circuit during a private test, the Brit completing an astonishing 167 laps over the two days with a best time of 1’42.432. This put the former World Supersport champion second overall, running just behind Alex Rins. The team now head to Valencia for two more days of testing on the 16th and 17th of November.

Lowes has joined the Gresini team on a three year contract, his year in Moto2™ followed by two years in MotoGP™ with Gresini and Aprilia.

Sam Lowes: “I’m really impressed by the team and the bike! From the first moment I felt that the potential is very high and I’m satisfied with the work done in these two days, in which I did a lot of laps, a record for me! I have tried many things on the bike, mostly to get acquainted to it and to understand how it reacts to the set-up changes. It was a great start, the guys from the team are fantastic and I could not be happier.”f
