Moto2™ teams conclude private Valencia Test

Johann Zarco led the Moto2™ riders at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo.

Ajo Motorsport’s Johann Zarco lapped around the Valencia circuit with a 1’34.489, half a second behind the track record recorded by Pol Espargaro during the Qualifying in 2013. The Frenchman led the second day of testing from Sandro Cortese (Dynavolt Intact GP) by two tenths of a second with new teammate Jonas Folger just behind. Taking Folger’s place in the AGR team is Marcel Schrotter, who was fourth on his Kalex return. Behind was the best of the Spanish riders, Julian Simon who ended sixth tenths of a second from Zarco and ahead of Axel Pons.

Fifth overall having completed 103 laps was Sam Lowes on the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Kalex with a time of 1’35.105. Former Gresini rider Xavier Simeon was eighth on the Speed Up bike ahead of Simone Corsi. Xavi Vierge, who will race full time in 2016 with the Tech 3 squad was 10th and 1.3 seconds faster than rookie teammate Isaac Viñales.
