Petrucci: “The race pace is very good”

Two days of testing in Jerez conclude for Danilo Petrucci as he continues to learn the nuances of the GP15.

Thursday and Friday saw both the Octo Pramac Racing riders take to the Jerez circuit with several other MotoGP™ World Championship teams. This is the last chance the Pramac squad and Danilo Petrucci will get to circulate on track in 2015, both eager to continue learning the new tyres and electronics as well as the new GP15. Petrucci first got a taste of the GP15 in Valencia after the race, though this was his first time working with the 2016 electronics. The Italian was able to complete 107 laps over the two days he rode.

Race pace was Petrucci’s main focus and he was able to set a steady pace on worn tyres, his best a 1’39.2. The changes in 2016 should great a more level playing field and allow riders such as Petrucci in satellite teams to be able to challenge for the podium on a more regular basis. Initial feedback suggests that ‘Petrux’ is adapting to life on the Michelin tyres and is having few of the issues other riders are complaining about.

Danilo Petrucci: “Two days very positive. I was fine with the tyres and the new software. Maybe I missed something in the fast lap but the race pace is very good. The conditions were more favourable compared to the race but I have been lapping very quickly and this makes me happy. I thank the team who did a great job during these two days and throughout the season. The feeling with the bike has improved a lot. I go on vacation happy.”
