Redding: 'We were able to lower the lap time'

Scott Redding improves his 2015 qualifying time by a full second during two days of Jerez testing, a successful second outing.

In Valencia Scott Redding was one of the few MotoGP™ World Championship riders to test both the new tyres and new electronics at the same time. This put the Brit in a great position as he and his Octo Pramac Racing team came to Jerez for two days of testing alongside the factory Ducati team. Having a solid knowledge of the GP15 in 2016 trim, Redding was able to focus on fine tuning the bike and finding the critical extra tenths of a second. A 1’38.9 was Redding’s best time, going a full second faster than his qualifying time on the Honda earlier in the year and getting within 0.2s of Jorge Lorenzo’s (Movistar Yamaha) best race lap. This was just Redding’s second time on the Ducati GP15 and shows the potential within himself on the Ducati after a difficult 2015 campaign.

Redding’s fastest time came on a set of new Michelin tyres, teammate Danilo Petrucci focused mostly on long runs. Everyone involved leaves the test incredibly pleased with what they achieved and are eager to get back out on track in early February at Sepang.

Scott Redding: “We did very well in these two days as we were able to lower the lap time by more than a second. The feeling grows run after run and also with the tyres things are going well. I feel I have a lot of confidence with the bike. We worked on the weight distribution finding a good pace. I am very satisfied with these tests and I look forward to going to Malaysia.”
