Iannone: “I like the way the Michelin tyres behave”

A one-day test in Jerez allows Andrea Iannone to confirm several findings from the Valencia test.

Andrea Iannone joined Ducati test rider Michele Pirro and Ducati Team teammate Andrea Dovizioso on track Friday in Jerez for their final run before the off season begins in earnest. Continued assessment of the 2016 electronics and Michelin tyres were Iannone’s main objective and he was able to confirm the positive feeling he had in Valencia on the new French rubber. Improved bike balance saw Iannone gain yet more confidence, especially on used tyres. The Italian’s best time of the day was a 1’39.6 and came on a set of tyres with 26 laps already done. In 2015 Iannone proved that he has the potential to challenge the established order and battle for podiums, a trend that looks set to continue based on the testing completed in Jerez.

Andrea Iannone: “The test went well, because we always managed to improve our times on every exit and this is an important aspect. We worked on the bike set-up with the new tyres and I am pleased that we managed to adapt well. I can confirm what I said at Valencia: I like the way the Michelin tyres behave and I have a good feeling, so it has been a positive day. We never used a new tyre to set fast times, I did my best time of 1’39.6 on my final run with a tyre that had already done 26 laps.”
