Rabat: “Today was all about getting back the feeling”

Rabat: “Today was all about getting back the feeling”

A steady start to the Sepang Test for MotoGP™ rookie Tito Rabat, focusing on his riding over bike setting.

Tito Rabat got straight to work aboard his Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS, completing 53 laps as he shook off the winter cobwebs. The first day of the three day Sepang test saw the lone MotoGP™ rookie focus on his riding style and furthering his understanding of the 2016 electronics. Having only ridden the Honda MotoGP™ bike on two previous occasions, Rabat is still learning how to best utilize the power of the 1000cc machine and get the most out of the carbon brakes. A 2’03.463 put the Marc VDS rider 18th overall, 2.779 seconds shy of Jorge Lorenzo who topped the first day.

Tito Rabat: “Today was all about getting back the feeling with the bike after such a long time away from the track and with the new electronics package that we will use this season. At first the sensation was a little different to last year, but with more laps the feeling improved. The bike felt good, but we were focused more on my riding rather than set up, as the lines here are very different on a MotoGP bike and the carbon brakes take some getting used to. Overall it was a good first day but, tomorrow, we need to up the workload and start improving the bike, refining the set up to suit more my riding style.”
