Redding: “We haven’t tried to set a good time yet”

Scott Redding ended Tuesday in 7th on the timesheets, despite not trying to set a flying lap and instead focusing on his bikes setup.

Redding was able to lower his time from Monday by 1.5s as he took full advantage of the soft rubber available before Baz’s crash to record a 2'01.049 on just his ninth lap of the day, a time that was good enough for seventh on the timesheets. He continued to work throughout the day on his bike's setup, eventually completing 41 laps and will head into the final day of the test full of confidence.

The three-day Sepang test concludes on Wednesday with the action kicking off at 10am local time.

Scott Redding: “The goal was to improve the feeling with the bike. We haven’t tried to set a good time yet, but obviously we will try to do it in the morning. With the hard tires we worked hard to find the best setup on the bike in order to increase traction. We found more stability but not enough traction. At this point of the season it is normal to try different setups and we'll try again tomorrow. In the afternoon I didn’t too badly on the hard tyre, lapping consecutively with 2:01.8 and 2:01.9, but sincerely I hope tomorrow we can lower that by half a second, which would show I can be competitive when it comes to race pace too.”
