Bradl: “This was the last test with the 2015 bike”

Aprilia Racing Team Gresini’s Stefan Bradl ends an intensive Sepang test with great data gathered on the 2015 bike.

The third and final day of the Sepang test came to a close as Stefan Bradl completed an extensive and intense testing programme on the 2015 Aprilia RS-GP. With the 2016 bike, built new from the ground up, debuting later in February, Bradl and his team used this test as a chance to further their understanding of the new Magneti Marelli electronics. Unfortunately the final day was hit with two periods of rain, limiting track time, as it was not wet enough for full rain tyres. As the test drew to a close, both Aprilia and Bradl felt that progress had been made but feeling there is still areas to improve around the electronics package.

Stefan Bradl: “These were some intense tests, spent above all on trying to improve the electronics package. Progress was made although we know that there is still plenty of room for improvement. This was the last test with the 2015 bike, so gathering as much data as possible was fundamental to facilitate the racing department's job. My mind is already on the next tests in Qatar where we'll have a completely new bike on which to apply everything we've learned thus far. By analysing the data and crunching the numbers on what we've tested I think that we'll be able to start from the best possible base electronics settings and then improve on it race after race.”
