Miller: “The leg was no problem”

Jack Miller completes 58 laps on his return from injury as he ends the second day of testing at Phillip Island in 17th.

Miller may have undergone surgery on a fractured tibia and fibula just one month ago, but the injury hasn’t been an issue for the 21-year-old Australian, who ended today 17th with a time of 1’30.514. He set his time on his penultimate lap of 58, as he completed an impressive workload at his home track.

Despite ending the day in 17th, Miller was only 1.383s off the pace of Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar), who topped the timesheets, and less than half a second from being inside the top ten. A feat made all the more impressive by the fact he had to miss the Sepang test completely through injury and only managed six laps on the first day of this test.

The final day of testing at Phillip Island kicks off at 9.45am local time on Friday.

Jack Miller: “I can be happy today. The weather improved and we got a lot of laps in on the bike, which is good, and the leg was no problem. The bike is working well, we’re missing a little bit in turn 10, which we need to work on, but we have some ideas as to how we can improve tomorrow. I’m really happy with the direction that Michelin have taken with the tyres as they’re working really well here at Phillip Island. I’m looking forward to riding the bike again tomorrow and, hopefully, the weather will stay good for us.”
