Rabat: “I need to apply what I learnt in Phillip Island”

Sights set on closing the gap to the top riders, Tito Rabat ventures to the last test in Qatar aiming to continue learning.

Although down in 16th at the Phillip Island test, Tito Rabat left pleased and within a second of Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar), who led the test. After a difficult time in Sepang, Australia provided a much needed confidence boost and proved that the MotoGP™ rookie is continuing to learn, and apply what he has learned. Learning will again be the goal of the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS in Losail, the last test of the pre-season and the final chance for riders to experiment before the season gets underway on the 20th of March. Losail and Phillip Island are quite different circuits, requiring Rabat and his team to head in a completely different direction to before. Testing begins on the second of March at 14:00 Local Time and will last three days. Most riders will wait for the sun to set before heading out, but with Rabat’s infamous work ethic he may very well venture out early.

Tito Rabat: “In Malaysia I struggled a little, especially the last day, but it was a new bike, new tyres and new electronics, so there was a lot to learn. Phillip Island was more positive; I started to understand better how the bike works and I made a big step during the last two days. Now we head to Qatar, a very different circuit again, but I need to apply what I learnt in Phillip Island, continue to increase both my feeling and understanding with the bike, so that I can make another step and improve my position on the timesheet."
