Redding: “I’m trying to have fun on the bike”

Second Ducati for Scott Redding as he continues to build his confidence ahead of the season opener in Qatar.

Thursday proved to be another strong evening of testing for Octo Pramac Yakhnich’s Scott Redding, the Brit charging to inside the top five. It was a day of adjustment for Redding as he went about lowering his best lap time, eventually setting a 1’55.677 for the fourth best time of the day. This saw the satellite Ducati rider improve by 0.6s from his Wednesday best, achieving his goal for the second day of testing. The majority of the session was spent on the hard option tyre as many riders in the premiere class are still struggling to make the most of the softer option, especially in Qatar.

Redding was able to improve his time by relaxing on the bike and trying to enjoy himself more. His time was only 0.169s back on Andrea Iannone’s (Ducati Team) best time on the factory machine. With the GP15 at his disposal, Redding is aiming for a strong opening race to restore his confidence after a difficult time on a satellite Honda in 2015.

Scott Redding: “I am very pleased with how things went today. I improved the lap time and it was a goal. I lapped a lot with hard tyre and I felt good. Then I tried the soft but I have not found many benefits. I had a lot of grip at the rear and little confidence at the front. This is the problem that we must try to solve. We do not know if this will be the race tyres and tomorrow we will do other tests. All in all, though, I feel I have to be very good on the bike and also the pace is constant even though I'm still pushing to 100%. I’m trying to have fun on the bike to bring back my confidence. And I'm very happy.”
