Rabat: “The last day of the Qatar test wasn’t a good one”

Rabat: “The last day of the Qatar test wasn’t a good one”

In 2016 there will be just one rookie on the MotoGP™ World Championship: Tito Rabat.

Stepping up to the MotoGP™ World Championship is always a big task, especially if you’re the only rookie rider on the grid and therefore don’t have another rider to compare yourself to as a benchmark. This didn't worry Tito Rabat who was as hard working as ever and completed a grand total of 446 laps during the three off-season tests with only Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) completing more laps. Despite the laps, it wasn’t a flawless test period for the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider who had many crashes and found it difficult to climb up the timesheets. Rabat now heads into his first MotoGP™ race weekend looking to take a significant step with his Honda RC213V.

Having completed a test at the Losail International Circuit already, Rabat has a rough idea as to what the base setting for his Honda will be for the Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar. With a pre-existing base setting, Rabat and his crew can work on improving confidence in the front end, the biggest problem he encountered during testing and crashing four times as a result. Rabat is hopeful the practice sessions will allow him to follow other, more experienced riders and learn from their way of riding.

Tito Rabat: “The last day of the Qatar test wasn’t a good one for us; too many crashes and a lack of confidence with the bike. Since then we’ve spent some time looking through the data and we think we’ve identified some areas in which we can improve the bike, which is positive for us. In myself I feel strong, ready to start the season and confident I can accelerate the learning process with more riders on track during the practice and qualifying sessions. My goal for this first weekend is to improve with every session and then give it my best shot in the race on Sunday.”
