Laverty: “Racing is my real passion”

Laverty: “Racing is my real passion”

After an important test, Eugene Laverty heads into his second year in MotoGP™ ready to race.

Once more the Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar will host the opening round of the MotoGP™ World Championship, a race that will set the scene for 2016. Now entering his second season in MotoGP™, Eugene Laverty (Aspar Team MotoGP) is hoping for much stronger results. 2015 saw the rider from Ireland struggle with the drastically underpowered Open Honda, fighting to score a single point. For 2016 he steps onto the Ducati GP14.2, a much more powerful bike.

Also helping Laverty are the technical changes, especially the new electronics that should create a much more level playing field. A tough winter full of crashes and injury has Laverty more motivated than ever to take advantage of this new equal playing field and attack the season hard, carrying the momentum throughout the rest of the season.

Eugene Laverty: “I'm very excited to begin racing once again. Pre-season testing is a really important time of the year but racing is my real passion. I've endured a tough winter but when the lights go out on Sunday it will all be worth it. We made progress during the test in Qatar and I'm happy that we are returning to the same circuit again to continue our forward momentum. The Aspar team is working hard with me to get back to 100% and soon we'll be able to display our full potential on the Ducati. We're aiming for a points scoring finish on Sunday to start our season on a positive note and we'll keep building from there."
