Dani Rivas Cup launched

Dani Rivas Cup launched

The Dani Rivas Cup has been created to honour the memory of the late Dani Rivas and promote work, dedication and perseverance.

After the tragic loss of his son, Willy Rivas has created the Dani Rivas Cup to honour his son’s memory and promote the key traits Dani Rivas showed while racing: hard work, dedication, perseverance and a passion for motorcycling. When combined these traits for the key to success and great sporting results.

The objective of the Cup is to train and promote promising young talents in motorcycling by providing access to the sport with minimal cost and mechanical equality. Riders must be aged between 6 and 11 years old to compete in the Cup, which will take place over five circuits in both Spain and Portugal.

Willy Rivas is not alone in the adventure as Dorna Sports SL, the commercial rights owner of the MotoGP™ World Championship and WorldSBK, have joined as a collaborator of the Dani Rivas Cup to promote young talent as an official ‘Programme Endorsed by Dorna’.

On the 28th and 29th of May the selection process will begin with Aleix Espargaro (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) and Julian Simon (QMMF Racing Team) all having the final choice as to who is entered into the Cup.

It’s not just about the racing though as the Cup will also monitor school performance to ensure that all the riders keep up with their work. Failure to pass a subject could end in less track time for the riders, pushing them to work hard both on and off the track.
