Dovizioso: “I think that now we have a good base”

Andrea Dovizioso once again opened his season with a second place finish; can he repeat history for another second in Argentina?

2015 saw Andrea Dovizioso and his Ducati Team have an incredible start to the year; a run of three second place finishes cemented them as front runners once again. After securing second in Qatar at the start of the 2016 season, the combination look to repeat their performance again at the Gran Premio Motul de la República Argentina. But results have not always come easily to ‘Desmo Dovi’ in Argentina, in 2014 he only managed ninth. Fortunately Ducati are in a much stronger place now, their engine certainly not lacking in power.

The 2016 Desmosedici GP made an excellent race debut in Qatar as Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone proved the machine is capable of running at the front and challenging for victory. But Termas de Rio Hondo will be an all-new challenge, Dovizioso having never ridden the circuit on Michelin tyres. The three pre-season tests have provided Ducati with ample data, now it’s time to apply it in the cut and thrust of a race weekend.

Andrea Dovizioso: “The Termas track is completely different to Losail, but judging by our current performance I think that now we have a good base for the next few races. This year it’s always a bit of an unknown factor to go to a track where we have never tested with the Michelins, but after Qatar I am aware that the Desmoedici GP has already reached an excellent competitive level and so I am sure that we can also fight for the top positions at Termas.”
