Laverty: “I felt like I could crash every time on the right”

Laverty: “I felt like I could crash every time on the right”

More points for Eugene Laverty as he battle to stay upright, experiencing issues with the front.

A great lap in Qualifying hid many of the issues that Eugene Laverty had been experiencing at the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas. The Irish rider lined up on the grid in 15th place with the knowledge it would be a difficult race. Fortunately the Irish rider was able to avoid falling, despite his front tyre feeling terrible underneath him especially in right hand bends. He would come home in 12th place and take four more points.

So far Laverty has scored 21 points, more than double what he scored in 2015 as a whole. The Aspar Team MotoGP rider holds ninth in the standings as the MotoGP™ paddock have a well earned weekend off after the first double header of the year.

Eugene Laverty: “It was a difficult race, which I expected because I didn't have a fantastic feeling all weekend. I made a decent lap in qualifying to get fifteenth on the grid but I knew it would be harder in the race. The important thing on days like this when other riders crash is to finish the race and pick up some points, which is what we did. The rear tyre felt good for the whole race but the front I didn't have a good feeling for on the right side, and that was why I crashed on Friday. Today I felt like I could crash every time on the right side of the front tyre so I was a little bit scared for that."
