Rabat: “I don't know how I could do such a big mistake”

Rabat: “I don't know how I could do such a big mistake”

Huge disappointment for Tito Rabat who suffered his first premier class DNF in Le Mans.

Sunday in France got off to a great start for Tito Rabat, the Spaniard ending Warm Up in a promising 14th. Progress was steady for the former Moto2™ World Champion who was climbing towards the points as the race went on. A mistake on lap eight would see his race come to an early end, Rabat distraught to have cost himself and the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS team a chance of scoring more World Championship points. This is the first time Rabat has failed to finish a MotoGP™ race, having always previously brought the bike and himself home safely, missing out on valuable bike time in France due to his fall.

A new challenge awaits Rabat in Mugello, the fearsome Turn 1 where riders must dive hard on the brakes after going well above 300km/h. Adapting to the bigger and more powerful bikes hasn’t been the easiest transition for Rabat, but as he showed during his Moto2™ days; once he’s up to speed he can consistently challenge the top riders.

Tito Rabat: “I am very disappointed because I did a very good warm-up session in the morning and I felt good for the race.  I had just passed Loris Baz and I was going a little faster and closed the front on the entry to turn six. I'm sorry for the team and myself because I don't know how I could do such a big mistake."
