Bagnaia: “The new Mahindra gearbox worked really well”

Mahindra usually go well at the Sachsenring, could Francesco Bagnaia make it two wins in as many races?

It’s hard to forget Francesco Bagnaia’s (Aspar Mahindra Team Moto3) sensational first win in Assen. The historic track also saw Mahindra take their first World Championship victory, the talented Italian pulling off a masterful move into the final chicane and allowing the Indian manufacturer to join a very exclusive club of GP winners. In Germany his and Mahindra’s quest for victory will be boosted by a new gearbox first tested in the CEV. It won't drop a second from their lap times, but it should allow Mahindra riders to be more consistent with their lap times. Bagnaia is hoping this will help him to shake his bad memories of the Sachsenring, 13th place his best ever finish at the German track. ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia may not like the track, but Mahindras have classically gone well there with Brad Binder scoring second in 2014.

Francesco Bagnaia: “The track in Germany is quite difficult for me, personally. The bike this year seems very competitive and even though we struggled last year we could be fast this weekend. I have had chance to test the new Mahindra gearbox and it worked really well from the first moment. It is a step forward although we still have a bit of work to do.”
