Zarco: “I want to be very relaxed”

Joint Moto2™ World Championship points leader Johann Zarco is going for a laid back approach in Germany, focusing on his riding.

Riders in any class of the World Championship have an extensive list of settings and parts to test during a Grand Prix weekend. From suspension to racing lines to body position, the list is almost endless. For the German GP Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) is hoping to worry just about his riding and the new exhaust the Ajo Motorsport team’s technical partners have produced. The new exhaust should hopefully adjust the torque curve and make Zarco even stronger. With the Moto2™ class using a standard engine, changes to the exhaust are one of the few changes teams can make to alter engine performance.

"I want to be very relaxed throughout the weekend, avoid working on too many technical aspects and just find the best riding style for the track"

There’s little doubt that Zarco is the man of the moment in Moto2™, arriving with three podiums in the last three races, two of the podiums resulting in a visit to the top step of the box. In those three rounds he has closed down a 31-point deficit and become joint championship leader.

Johann Zarco: “Sachsenring is a circuit where some riders are very strong and others find things very tough. Last season we were very good in qualifying and in the race I did quite well. I remember Simeon had a great end to the race to win. We will see what happens this year. I want to be very relaxed throughout the weekend, avoid working on too many technical aspects and just find the best riding style for the track. The rest we have had was the same length as between Catalonia and Assen, and the calendar gave me two weeks without racing in which I could work with the riding school I have. I have also continued my fitness preparation and trained with the bike I have at a circuit close to my home. It is very important to keep your training pace up and not lose a feel for riding during time off. I have tried to enjoy the break and get ready for the German Grand Prix.”
