Qatar winner and Championship leader Joan Mir (Leopard Racing) was quickest out the blocks in South America, ahead of local hero Gabriel Rodrigo – who, despite breaking his collarbone in Qatar, was passed fit to race and put in a stunning performance in FP1.
Nicolo Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46) was third, ahead of RBA BOE Racing’s Juanfran Guevara, Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers), Livio Loi (Leopard Racing), Enea Bastianini (Estrella Galicia 0,0), Andrea Migno (Sky Racing Team VR46), Aron Canet (Estrella Galicia 0,0) and British Talent Team rider John McPhee completed the top ten.
