Dovizioso: “In Argentina I don’t have any luck”

Ducati rider suffers another DNF in South America

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) had a difficult weekend leading up to the race in the Gran Premio Motul de la Republica Argentina, but the Italian was getting back up in the fight towards the front when progress was cut short in an incident with Aprilia Racing Team Gresini rider Aleix Espargaro.

After moving up to fight for what he thought would be an achievable top five finish, ‘DesmoDovi’ found himself caught on the outside of Turn 5 as Espargaro crashed and slid out – taking the 2016 Malaysian GP winner with him in another incident of bad luck and trouble for the number 04 in the Americas.

Andrea Dovizioso, DNF: “This was a strange race because, even though I actually had very little grip and I was not particularly competitive, I managed to recover well in the early stages and gain some positions. When I got involved in the fight with Danilo, who always brakes on the limit, I tried to find the right moment to pass him, but unfortunately at turn 5 I was hit by Aleix Espargarò’s bike and crashed out. Here in Argentina I don’t have any luck at all, seeing as today I was taken out yet again, and I’m bitterly disappointed because being able to bring home a probably fifth place, in such a difficult weekend, would have been very important.”
