Rain interrupts Moto3™ and Moto2™ return in Valencia

Poor weather limits track time as the smaller classes look to prepare for 2018

It was a disrupted return to action for the Moto3 ™ and Moto2 ™ classes as rain and cold conditions meant that just a handful of riders took to the Valencia circuit on the opening day of the three day test.

The wet weather greeted the riders as they arrived at the track and with no sun forecast for the rest of the day, there was no chance of the circuit drying out before the final session.

Dominique Aegerter (Kiefer Racing) was the first to head out on track and the only rider in Moto2 ™, with the Swiss hoping to get an early understanding of his new KTM ride after several seasons on the Suter chassis.

Three riders opted to brave the conditions in Moto3 ™, with Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse), Philipp Oettl (Südmetall Schedl GP Racing) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) all taking to the track late in the day. Di Giannantonio put in the most number of laps as the Italian looked to give feedback on a number of changes made by Honda for 2018.

Riders will return for the second day of testing tomorrow and with better weather forecast it promises to be a busy day of action.
