Morbidelli on the move: rookie improves on Friday

The reigning intermediate class Champion settles in - and gives us a tour of the EG 0,0 Marc VDS box

Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) is starting to settle in in the premier class, and the reigning Moto2™ Champion took motogp.com for a tour around the box at the #QatarTest as he moves up within the EG 0,0 Marc VDS structure.

“We began Qatar as we ended Buriram,” was the VR46 Academy rider’s first comment on Losail. Focusing on corner exit and acceleration, the Italian-Brazilian also says he still needs to change his style a bit to gain maximum traction – with MotoGP™ and Moto2™ very different ballgames.

After 55 laps on Friday, Morbidelli’s pace was up to a best lap of 1:56.074 – around a second and a half off the top but six tenths quicker than his best on Thursday.

“We worked on setup, we worked on riding style and we improved a bit so I’m happy about that. Now we still have to work, and keep improving. For the race it’s going to be tricky. The good thing is that we’re in a big group I think, and it’ll be a fun race!”

But there’s one more day of testing before then, with Losail hosting the final preseason session on Saturday from 13:00 to 21:00 (GMT +3).
