Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) scraped through by the skin of his teeth, beating Aprillia Racing Team Gresini rider Aleix Espargaro by 0.040 seconds, as the number 41 pushed hard on his final run.
Tito Rabat (Reale Avintia Racing) was a faller at Turn 1 – rider ok.
