Championship leader and home hero Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46) came out the blocks quickest in the Moto2™ class at the Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, setting a 1:38.014 to finish 0.223 clear of second place man Jorge Navarro (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2), with Marcel Schrötter (Dynavolt Intact GP) completing the top three under the sunny San Marino skies that greeted the intermediate class – the German crashed unhurt in FP1.

Italian Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) was fourth fastest in the opening session at his home GP, with Bagnaia’s Championship rival Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) rounding out the top five.
Romano Fenati (Marinelli Snipers Team), Stefano Manzi (Forward Racing Team) and Swiss Innovative Investors rider Sam Lowes all crashed on Friday morning – the Brit headed to the medical centre for a checkup after highsiding.
