Augusto Fernandez (Pons HP40) fired in a late 1:51.477 to lead the way in Moto2™ Warm Up at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan, getting the better of second place Marcel Schrötter (Dynavolt Intact GP) by 0.048, with title contender Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) third fastest as he aims to get a good launch from P9 in the race.

Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) was fourth fastest on Sunday morning, 0.290 off Fernandez’ time, with Lorenzo Baldassarri (Pons HP40) fifth – 0.364 behind his teammate. Pole man and Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46) ended the session in P11.
Simone Corsi (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2) and Remy Gardner (Tech 3 Racing) both crashed – riders ok.
