Dovizioso and Pirro into Q2 with Rossi 18th on the grid

The Mission Winnow Ducati duo scraped through whilst The Doctor will start his home GP from row six a year on from taking pole position

Mission Winnow Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso and Michele Pirro booked a place in Q2 during a dramatic Q1 session, after the man second in the World Championship left it until his final lap of the session to scrape through.

Meanwhile, it was disaster for Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi, who could only manage eighth, meaning twelve months on from securing pole position, The Doctor will start from 18th on the grid. Repsol Honda Team’s Jorge Lorenzo and Ecstar Suzuki Team’s Alex Rins also missed out.
