After attending the Aprilia All Stars event at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli last weekend, Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) travelled to Barcelona for a scheduled medical check-up.
On Monday evening, Aprilia provided an update on the reigning World Champion’s recovery, revealing the check-up was “fairly positive” – but another medical examination will be necessary at the beginning of July.
The full press release from Aprilia Racing can be seen below:
“Jorge Martin has been checked by Dr. Xavier Mir and Dr. Angel Charte for a follow-up. In the chest, the rib fractures follow their physiologic evolution. Martin underwent a clinical examination and a CT scan of the chest and wrist. The clinical outcome is fairly positive, as the distal radius fracture is consolidated. The fracture line of the scaphoid is still visible, further electromagnetic therapies must be considered intensively. A new medical check will be performed in one month.”
While at the Aprilia All Stars event, Martin revealed to motogp.com that he intends to begin training on a motorcycle again in mid-June. It’s still unclear when we’ll see the #1 back racing on his RS-GP, but hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later.
