Marini leads Moto2™ into qualifying, 27 within a second

A phenomenally close Moto2™ FP3 saw haps close and times tumble, with a changes occurring throughout the top 14

The rain clouds had cleared, and sunshine blazed through at the Chang International Circuit as FP3 for the Moto2™ World Championship commenced at the PTT Thailand Grand Prix. Following delays due to the rain, the track was now dry, meaning that the times from the session could upset the top 14 overall. Leading the charge into qualifying, Luca Marini (SKY Racing Team VR46) led teammate Bulega and Chantra after a dramatic FP3.

Marini never improved his time during FP3 but Bulega blasted into the top 14 in the closing stages of Moto2™ FP3, making it a SKY Racing Team VR46 1-2. Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) consolidated his front row pace with third, whilst Tetsuta Nagashima (ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team) was fourth and Jorge Martin (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completed the top five, vastly improving on his Friday pace.

Remy Gardner (ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team) ended up sixth, with Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) looking to continue building on his pace for Sunday in seventh. However, he had a fast crash at Turn 7, with his front end washing out. Moments later, Jake Dixon (Gaviota Angel Nieto Team) also suffered a similar fate, joining Marquez in the gravel. Completing the top ten was Enea Bastianini (Italtrans Racing Team), Iker Lecuona (American Racing KTM) and Brad Binder.

Joining the top ten in Q2 will be Tom Lüthi (Dynavolt Intact GP), Augusto Fernandez (FlexBox HP 40), – who crashed late-on in FP3 – Xavi Vierge (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) and a late-improving Fabio Di Giannantonio (Beta Tools Speed Up).
