Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Franco Morbidelli continues to impress on Saturday at the Shell Malaysian Grand Prix by topping FP4 a few hours on from ending FP3 fastest. The Italian jumped ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi in the closing stages of the session at a still dry, but rain threatened, Sepang International Circuit.
Morbidelli’s 1:59.600 was just over a tenth faster than Rossi’s best, which was helped by a tow from Repsol Honda Team’s Jorge Lorenzo. The five-time World Champion crashed at Turn 1 seconds later but thankfully walked away without further injury.

Making it an Italian top three was Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team), who ended a further tenth back on Rossi in third place. Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Fabio Quartararo remains the fastest man of the weekend so far and ended FP4 in fourth place ahead of Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Marquez.
