Five out of six: MotoGP™, a cauldron of competition

Binder and KTM’s Brno victory sees five out of the six premier class factories now boasting a win. Will Austria throw up further surprises?

As we get set for the myWorld Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich, one this is for certain – MotoGP™ is as close as its ever been. Brad Binder’s historic victory at the Czech GP gave Red Bull KTM Factory Racing their first win in the premier class, meaning five of the six manufacturers have now won.

KTM’s rise in the past four years has been sensational. Catching and beating factories who know the MotoGP™ game inside out, such as Honda, Yamaha, Ducati and Suzuki, is no mean feat. KTM have done it their own way with their steel frame direction, and they're now reaping the success of sticking to what they know. Binder's win is testament to everyone's tireless work at the Austrian factory, and yet more proof of how competitive MotoGP™ is. Five of the six factories now have winning pedigree and heading to a home doubleheader at the Red Bull Ring, KTM will be quietly confident they can add to their Czech GP silverware.

Aprilia Racing Team Gresini have made a huge step in 2020 as they continue their conquest for a premier class podium – and more. Aleix Espargaro’s P4 in qualifying at the Czech GP shows the Noale factory are bridging the gap, and the Spaniard beat the likes of Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) and Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) in Brno. Make no doubt about it, Aprilia are coming to the party. It’s surely a matter of if, not when, we’ll have all six manufacturers with MotoGP™ winner’s trophies.

Who are you backing to steal the show in Austria?
