Jack Miller (Pramac Racing) was comfortably fastest in a wet MotoGP™ FP1 at the Gran Premio de Europa, the Australian sitting 0.467 seconds quicker than second place Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT). Repsol Honda Team’s Stefan Bradl completed the top three on Friday morning as Garrett Gerloff (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) made an impressive MotoGP™ debut.

The weather was bleak for the start of the weekend’s premier class action. Valencia was cold, wet and windy and it was rain master Miller who dealt with the conditions best. His 1:42.063 was by far the best of the session, with Morbidelli easily the best Yamaha in the wet conditions. Johann Zarco (Esponsorama Racing) and Alex Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) completed the top five, the Spaniard crashed at Turn 6 but was perfectly ok.
Championship leader Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) finished P17 in FP1, 1.6 seconds off Miller and one place behind debutant Gerloff. The American, standing in for Valentino Rossi, impressed in the difficult conditions on his first outing on a MotoGP™ bike to end the 45-minute session just 1.5 seconds from P1. Second in the Championship Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) endured a difficult session, the Frenchman was P21 and 2.7 seconds off Miller.
