History, shock moments and another shift in the title fight – we just call it another day in the office at the Sachsenring. The Liqui Moly Grand Prix of Germany served up another fascinating weekend in the title fight, with Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) making it 10 MotoGP wins at the Sachsenring. SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team’s Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez completed the podium, leaving just 24 points separating the top five. Things couldn’t be much closer, leaving plenty of stories ahead of the summer break!
"This weekend was attack mode"
Pole position, Sprint victory and Sunday glory – can you ask for much more? Marc Marquez earned victory, securing the maximum 37 points available and closing the Championship deficit once more. The #93 sits third in the standings but remains tight-lipped on his Championship chances. However, it’s clear that Marc Marquez’s plan is to train and enter the second part of the season to attack.
Marc Marquez: "I said that if I wanted to have some chance in the Championship, then this weekend was attack mode. That’s what we did: we tried to push, tried to have that intensity, and as I said yesterday, I didn’t have any limitations with my physical condition, so I could ride how I wanted. I feel happy, comfortable during the race and very happy with how I was riding.
"I keep saying the same. If I’m able to do a step in the summer break on my arm, which I don’t know if I can or not. But I will work hard to try and wake up some muscles which are sleeping, and from that point, if we can do it, then we will try and fight for the Championship in the second part of the season. If not, then we will try to understand what we can do every weekend."
"I cannot be happier"
Ai Ogura exceeded expectations on Sunday afternoon, standing on the podium for the fourth time this season. Ogura and Trackhouse were only aiming for a top-five finish on Sunday, but found further pace and a better setting with the front tyre. Heading into the summer break, Ogura sits P2 in the standings – leaving everything up for grabs ahead of Silverstone.
Ogura: "The position that we got on both the Sprint and the main race was a lot higher than I expected, so I think we can be super happy. Finishing behind Marc in second position here, I felt like I did my maximum, so I cannot be happier. We did our job here, so it’s a happy Sunday.
"I was lucky that I already had a front issue in the Sprint yesterday, as we worked on that in the Warm Up and in the main race. It paid off, I think, as we could manage especially the front tyre really well, and we were able to do our pace until the end. Good pace, good management."
"We need to have our feet on the ground"
It was another memorable weekend for Raul Fernandez, improving on his Sprint pace to clinch P3 on Sunday afternoon. It moves Fernandez to P6 in the standings ahead of the summer break as the Spanish star collected his third Sunday podium of the season. It was also a double podium for the Trackhouse squad, marking a special Sunday at the Sachsenring.
Fernandez: "I’m really happy; I think before the race, no one expected that we could fight for the podium. We were thinking that we would be fighting for the top five, something like that, and I am really happy as the team is doing a good job. This summer break will be really important to prepare everything and the body, as it’s important to try to take a step and also get some rest.
"This year we have a really good opportunity, because I think if we stay like this, then we can always fight for the top five, which I think is a really good target. But we need to have our feet on the ground and try to work the entire weekend like this, because if not, then we wouldn't be able to fight for the podium. It’s important to enjoy, but it's also important to think about what we can improve for the second part of the year."
"I'm not the favourite"
With the championship lead and an incredible battle in both the Sprint and Grand Prix, it’s the perfect way to enter summer break. Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) holds a 14-point advantage in the World Championship following another solid point-scoring weekend in Germany. Consistency is proving to be key in 2026, with P6 in the Sprint and P5 on Sunday, Martin remains happy with his Sachsenring performance.
Martin: "I did the maximum that I could; I felt a limit from my bike, and there is something that we are not understanding well because I can see that the other Aprilias are much faster than me. I have trust and confidence in myself and my team, but there is something that we are missing.
"Last season I was last in the Championship at this point, and now I’m in the lead, so it’s been a big comeback. There are still a lot of races to go, but there are a lot of tracks that I enjoy riding on.
"Obviously, I'm not the favourite; at the moment, I think Marc, with the level he is reaching, is the favourite. But we are in the fight; we just need to have more speed and to fight until the end."
"It was a really small mistake"
It was a confidence-boosting weekend for Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), returning to the podium fight for the first time since injury. The #73 kept his brother Marc honest throughout Saturday’s Sprint, leaving some expectations for Sunday. However, Alex Marquez crashed out at the entry to Turn 13, bringing a disappointing end to the weekend. Despite the crash, there were plenty of positive takeaways from the weekend.
Alex Marquez: "It was a really small mistake, but it was a crash; it was a mistake. I was really comfortable in second position; I was just trying to follow Marc and not make any mistakes, but I made that small one and lost the front. But anyway, I’m super happy about the overall weekend as it’s the first one I've done in a normal way after Catalunya.
"It was a super nice livery, and I think Gresini did an amazing job with the livery, and it was painful to see that bike crash. But anyway, racing can be like this, and it was still really special and an honour to wear those colours."
