Aspar Team’s Aron Canet has topped the private Moto2™ and Moto3™ Jerez test this week, thanks to a 1:41.130. The Spanish intermediate class sophomore finished 0.299s ahead of second place Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS) and 0.420s up the road from Marcos Ramirez (Tennor American Racing).
A total of 15 Moto2™ riders were on track in Andalucia, including four rookies: Tony Arbolino (Liqui Moly Intact GP), Ai Ogura (Honda Team Asia), reigning Moto3™ World Champion Albert Arenas (Aspar Team) and Cameron Beaubier (Tennor American Racing). It was yet more valuable Moto2™ acclimatisation time for all of them ahead of their visit to the Losail International Circuit next week for the Official pre-season three-day Test.
Some Moto3™ riders were also in attendance. Fastest in class was Dennis Foggia with a 1:45.792, the Italian edged out compatriot Romano Fenati (Sterilgarda Max Racing Team) by less than a tenth as new GasGas Aspar Team recruit Sergio Garcia completed the top three – just ahead of rookie Izan Guevara (GasGas Aspar Team).
Aforementioned, the Moto2™ and Moto3™ teams and riders will be jetting off to Doha for the one and only Official Test, which takes place between 19-21 of March.
