Nakagami leads Mir in Q1 as both edge out the rookies

The LCR Honda rider left it late to secure his place, while the World Champion showed his grit

A late flying lap from Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) saw him secure his place in Q2 with a 1:53.577, with World Champion Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) joining him the second qualifying session at the Barwa Grand Prix of Qatar.

The pair edged out rookie Enea Bastianini (Esponsorama Racing) who was hugely impressive and missed out by just five thousandths, while fellow rookie Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) can also count himself desperately unlucky to not make it to the second qualifying session following a crash at Turn 12 while on a hot lap.

Q2 is up next at 20.25 local time (GMT +3) so make sure you follow the action then.
