Mir and Oliveira take final Q2 places at Doha GP

The World Champion comes through Q1 for a second consecutive week and is joined by Miguel Oliveira

Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) topped the Q1 timesheets for the second consecutive week at the Losail International Circuit thanks to a 1:53.931.

An entertaining session meant the World Champion had to fight to the end to secure his place as Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), who took the second spot to go through to Q2, briefly knocked him off the top. The Portuguese rider also left it late to post his time, but did enough to secure safe passage through at the expense of rookie Luca Marini (SKY VR46 Esposnorama). The Italian rider isn't the only man to miss out, with big names Pol Espargaro (Repsol Honda Team) and Valentino Rossi (Petronas Yamaha SRT) also facing starts from further back the grid on Sunday's race.

Q2 is underway shortly, so make sure you join us to see who will take pole under the lights at the Doha GP.
