Current Australian MotoGP™ star Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) and former Australian MotoGP™ winner Chris Vermeulen have shared their joy in seeing compatriot Remy Gardner (Red Bull KTM Ajo) earn a promotion to the premier class in 2022 with Tech3 KTM Factory Racing.
Vermeulen famously won the 2007 French GP with Suzuki and competed in four full MotoGP™ seasons between 2006-2009, standing on the rostrum seven times. Unsurprisingly, Vermeulen is very pleased to see Gardner get his chance in MotoGP™ next season.

“The Gardner name is very famous and has had a lot of following so Remy’s career has been watched with much interest from Aussies. Remy has stepped through the categories, hasn’t been easy for him, it hasn’t been any easier having a famous dad but he’s really made progress and stepped out on his own,” said Vermeulen.
“Especially this year, moving to Ajo’s Moto2 team, leading the World Championship at the moment, a fantastic win last time out at Mugello. He’s really riding like a rider who’s really found his feet and deserves the move up to MotoGP. From one former Aussie MotoGP rider, I’m very proud, great to see him on the bike and it’s very well deserved. We look forward to having two Aussies full time in MotoGP from 2022, so good luck Jack and good luck Remy Gardner on your debut season.”
Gardner will be lining up on the same grid as Australia’s leading MotoGP™ light Miller next year. The two-time 2021 race winner is also thrilled to see the current Moto2™ World Championship leader make it two Aussies in the premier class in 2022, as the number 43 knows just how tough the journey is to reach the pinnacle.
“It’s fantastic to see another Australian making the step into MotoGP, it’s an amazing achievement,” stated Miller. “I know personally how difficult it is to arrive in Europe, establish yourself and eventually arrive in MotoGP. He’s done a fantastic job but for sure he has some big things on his plate this year, trying to bring home a World Championship in Moto2. It will be amazing, amazing for the country and I look forward to lining up next to him next year.”
