Fenati dominates opening Silverstone session

The Italian was 0.6s clear of the pack in Moto3™ FP1 as the British GP gets underway

Romano Fenati (Sterilgarda Max Racing Team) dominated proceedings in Moto3™ FP1 at the Monster Energy British Grand Prix, the Italian set a 2:12.196 on an overcast Friday morning to beat second place Jeremy Alcoba (Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3) by 0.660s. Alcoba’s teammate Gabriel Rodrigo completed the top three in the first session of the weekend, the Argentine 0.7s shy of Fenati.

Ayumu Sasaki (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and World Championship leader Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) rounded out the top five, as second in the Championship Sergio Garcia (Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team) had a couple of sketchy moments in the early stages of FP1. Home hero John McPhee (Petronas Sprinta Racing) suffered a huge highside at Turn 12 halfway through the session. Thankfully, the British rider walked away unscathed.

Lorenzo Fellon (SIC58 Squadra Corse), Stefano Nepa (BOE Owlride) and Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Tech3) were other crashers in FP1, all riders were ok.
