Viñales looking to improve on 1:33.0 on Day 2 in Misano

The Spaniard was only seven tenths adrift of Aleix Espargaro's fastest lap from 2020, whilst KTM and Ducati continue their preparations

A second day of work at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli after rain curtailed Tuesday's track action. All eyes are once again on Aprilia's Maverick Viñales as he continues his first outing with the Noale factory. After confirming on Instagram last night that his best lap on Day 1 was a 1:33.0 - seven tenths adrift of Aleix Espargaro's best lap of the 2020 San Marino Grand Prix - now, the number 12 is hard at work preparing for a potential Aprilia debut before the close of 2021.

Meanwhile, Ducati and KTM continue their hard work ahead of two upcoming Grands Prix at the Italian circuit. Michele Pirro is back out on track for the Bologna factory, whilst both Mika Kallio and Dani Pedrosa are busy lapping for the Austrian outfit.

Ducati are also looking to prepare their riders as best as they can ahead of two rounds in Italy, with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing), Luca Marini (SKY VR46 Avintia) and now Enea Bastianini (Avintia Esponsorama) all present on Ducati V4R Superbike machines.

Stay tuned to motogp.com throughout the day as we speak to Maverick Viñales for the very first time following his Aprilia debut. The must-see interview will be available to view for free later on Wednesday.
