Pedro Acosta: Moto3™ World Champion in Portimao if…

The rookie sensation has a second bite at the title cherry this weekend, but what does the Spaniard need to clinch the crown?

Despite claiming his first podium since the Styrian GP, Moto3™ World Championship leader Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) carved a disappointed figure at the Emilia-Romagna GP after Dennis Foggia (Leopard Racing) produced a stunning comeback to win on home turf. This saw Acosta miss out on a chance to win the title, but he has another bite at the cherry this weekend.

Heading into the Grande Prémio Brembo do Algarve, Acosta holds a 21-point advantage over Foggia with two races to go in 2021 – and remember, the duo went head-to-head for victory at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve earlier this season. So, here’s what the Spaniard needs to walk away from Portimao as a Grand Prix World Champion:

- He wins
- He finishes 2nd and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 4th
- He finishes 3rd and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 5th
- He finishes 4th and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 8th
- He finishes 5th and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 10th
- He finishes 6th and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 11th
- He finishes 7th and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 12th
- He finishes 8th and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 13th
- He finishes 9th and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 14th
- He finishes 10th and Foggia doesn’t finish better than 15th
- He finishes 11th and Foggia fails to score any points
