Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing) and Iker Lecuona (Tech3 KTM Factory Racing) both secured safe passage from Q1 at the Brembo Grand Prix of the Algarve. Zarco’s GP21 snatched top spot from his KTM counterpart after the Frenchman found some time in the final sector to record a 1:39.130, giving him 0.041s to spare.

It was an impressive showing from sophomore rider Lecuona, who sat top of the timesheets for the majority of the session, while he escaped the clutches of the yellow flags from a Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) crash go into P1 on his sixth lap.
Enea Bastianini (Avintia Esponsorama) can consider himself unfortunate to miss out as he fell victim to Zarco’s late time attack and slipped out of the qualification places. It continues to be a weekend to forget for hometown hero Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) who finished seventh for the session, while teammate Brad Binder didn’t fare any better as the South African crashed at Turn 3.
Next up is the battle for pole in Q2, make sure you stay tuned to follow all the action as it unfolds.
