Tags Moto2, 2022

Just a few short days after premier class riders and teams packed up their things and set off for the winter break, Moto2™ and Moto3™ riders are on track in Jerez to round out their season and begin preparations for 2022. The intermediate and lightweight classes are on track at Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto for three days of private testing, offering them their first taste of what to expect next season.

On Monday, Moto3™ World Champion Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) made his debut in the intermediate class as he completed his first laps on a Moto2™ machine, even sporting his new number.

Fellow Moto3™ graduates Gabriel Rodrigo (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team), Jeremy Alcoba (Liqui Moly Intact GP), Filip Salac (Gresini Racing Moto2) and Niccolo Antonelli (Avintia VR46 Academy) make their debuts, while Romano Fenati (Speedup Racing) returns to the class for the first time since 2018.

Also joining the Moto2™ ranks this season are Zonta Van Den Goorbergh (RW Racing GP), who makes the jump up from the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship, Alessandro Zaccone (Gresini Racing Moto2) moving over from MotoE™, and MotoAmerica star Sean Dylan Kelly (American Racing). All three have seen track time so far in Jerez.

In the lightweight class, John McPhee made his debut with Sterilgarda Max Racing Team. The Scot was joined by his new teammate Ayumu Sasaki while Rivacold Snipers pair Alberto Surra and Andrea Migno were also present in Jerez. Testing will continue until Tuesday, November 22nd. To date, more than twenty riders have tested at the Andalusian track. Weather permitting, many of them will extend their work to Tuesday. As this is a private test, no official results are available, but you can follow the track's Live Timing.
