Morbidelli tops interrupted 30-minute stint

Rins’ fire and oil spill sees the red flags shown but once underway again, it was Yamaha leading Ducati in FP4

 

Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) topped FP4 at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia with the only 1:31 lap time of the session. Rookie Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) claimed an impressive P2 ahead of Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing), who recovered from a Turn 10 crash caused by an oil spill from Alex Rins’ (Team Suzuki Ecstar) machine.

The red flags were shown after Rins’ GSX-RR caught fire at Turn 10, which the Spaniard having to jump off his bike on the side of the track at Turn 13. Unfortunately, oil was dropped on circuit, causing Zarco to crash. Thankfully the Frenchman walked away unscathed, but a clean up operation had to be undertaken. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) and Rins closed out the top five once the session had ended.
