Ciabatti: Bastianini, Martin have "same chance" to win

Ducati’s Sporting Director spoke to motorsport.com in Sepang about what support Jorge Martin will be getting in 2023

It was one of the major talking points in 2022: Enea Bastianini vs Jorge Martin for the second Ducati Lenovo Team spot alongside eventual World Champion Francesco Bagnaia.

As we now know, Bastianini got the nod over Martin, with the latter staying with Prima Pramac Racing for this season alongside Johann Zarco. However, when chatting with motorsport.com, Ducati Sporting Director Paolo Ciabatti has made it clear that both the Italian and Spaniard have the same tools in 2023.

Both riders will be competing on Ducati’s Desmosedici GP23 and according to Ciabatti, Martin will receive the necessary support for him to be able to challenge for the coveted MotoGP™ crown.

“Martin will have all the necessary support from Ducati to be World Champion with Pramac,” said Ciabatti. “Jorge has the same chances as, for example, Enea. I can confirm that 100%. Last year, when Pecco was fighting for the World Championship, we never intervened, and I think that was very clear.”
