The Italian crashed out of the Tissot Sprint in India at the opening corner following a collision with teammate Marco Bezzecchi

Mooney VR46 rider Luca Marini underwent surgery in Italy following an injury he picked up during the Tissot Sprint at the IndianOil Grand Prix of India. The Italian collided with teammate Marco Bezzecchi at the opening corner of Buddh International Circuit, with the #10 hitting the deck and left with a fractured collarbone.

Marini posted on Instagram following the procedure to offer an update to his fans: "That's another one. Thanks to Dr. Porcellini and his staff. Not one of my best moments, but let's start the countdown to come back on bike as soon as possible. Let's stay strong."

As a result of the incident, Marini must serve a double long lap penalty upon his return, which is yet to be confirmed.
