Moreira fastest as Masia crashes twice on Friday morning

The Brazilian set the pace in Moto3™ Practice 1 in Indonesia but there was early weekend drama for the Championship leader

0.421s is the advantage Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets – MSI) will be taking into Friday afternoon at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia as the Brazilian sets a 1:40.590 in Practice 1 to lead Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and Jose Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo), as early weekend drama unfolds for World Championship leader Jaume Masia (Leopard Racing).

Joel Kelso (CFMoto Racing PrüstelGP) and Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) enjoyed solid mornings at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, with title-hunting Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) also having a decent outing in P6.

On the contrary, it was a morning to forget for the in-form Masia as the #5 crashed twice in the opening 35-minute stint. Turn 16 caught out Masia early in the session before the final corner – Turn 17 – saw the Leopard star tumble into the gravel again. The Spaniard has an important afternoon coming up in Practice 2.

David Alonso (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team) was another title chaser to crash, the Colombian’s session ended in the final five minutes of Practice 1.

That’s a session you can tune into at 13:15 local time (GMT+8) as the riders aim to land a provisional Q2 spot inside the top 14.
