Dominant Aldeguer takes lap record with Q2 beckoning

The Spaniard has kept his name firmly at the top of the timing screens all weekend as he leads the way ahead of Roberts and Canet

Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp) has found an extra gear in Phillip Island as he goes into qualifying as the rider to beat after a 1:31.128 saw the Spaniard take the new all-time lap record. Joe Roberts (Italtrans Racing Team) got closest to the Boscoscuro rider despite being 0.450s back in P2. The rest of the field are as closer as ever however with Aron Canet (Pons Wegwow Los40) was another tenth back in P3.

Sergio Garcia (Pons Wegwow Los40) was only 0.022s back from the top three in P4 as he pipped Championship leader Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) by just over a tenth of a second. Acosta found himself one position ahead of his title Tony Arbolino (Elf MarcVDS Racing Team) who finished in P6 ahead of his teammate Sam Lowes. The two Brits were locked together on the timesheets as Jake Dixon (Inde GASGAS Aspar Team) was next up in P8. Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team) took 9th spot with Albert Arenas (Red Bull KTM Ajo) rounding out the top ten.
